CLEANING

  • Mild abrasive like Barkeepers friend.

  • Weld Spatter. Knock beads off with dull end of plate steel. For raised burrs or BBs, use a flat stone such as our maintenance stone or similar bench stone. To use bench stone, lightly place stone on raised portion and move in circular motion until you can no longer feel the raised portion. Typically you can hear a different in tone when the raised part has been removed. Do this with light pressure and keep the stone flat to avoid gouging.

  • Light anti-corrosion oil like WD-40 or wax for uncoated and nitrided tables.

GROUNDING

Proper grounding is important to prevent arc strikes. Arc strikes typically occur when there is an air gap between the workpiece and the table, and the current tries to find the shortest path by jumping across the gap. To prevent this always follow these best practices:

  • Always ground directly to work piece

  • Clamp down on work piece to ensure uniform contact between table and workpiece

  • Keep work surface free of debris to ensure uniform contact between table and workpiece
